Thursday Thoughts

1. Sunday Morning Worship - This week we are concluding our preaching series called "Jargon Unchained," taking some of the theological terms and church jargon and explain it all in a much easier to understand way. This week's term is "Discipleship" and Pastor Loida will use ? in her sermon.

It is also, Invite a Friend Sunday and our annual Ministry Fair! We hope to see many of you there with your friends on Sunday morning and 8am, 9:30am or 11am! After each service you can see the displays from all of the different ministries around the church to see the wide range of ministries available and opportunities for service.

2. New Thursday Worship Service - We have launched a new worship experience on Thursdays this fall in the Family Life Center. That means it meets tonight! This Seven02 service (named after its start time!) is casual, contemporary, set up in the round and family friendly. It is geared towards a wide audience and has something for everyone.

Click here to listen to Pastor Daryl and Worship Leader Joey Landstedt sharing about the vision for this service. Come as you are, come from where you are, just come. Come and join us as we strive to be a part of something big!

3. Rise Against Hunger - You are invited to join us in our Family Life Center on Sunday, October 21st as we gather to pack 20,000 meals for children across the world. We will need about 10 people to meet us at 11:30am to set up the tables and we will need about 10 more people to stick around after the event to tear down. The event itself will require about 100 people to prepare the meals and pack them in boxes. There is a job for all ages and abilities. You will be amazed at how quickly we will pack those 20,000 meals as we do it in just a few hours. These meals feed children that otherwise may not eat. It is a wonderful outreach and we sure would love to have you be a part of it. There is no signup, we just ask you to show up. Mark your calendars and we hope to see you there!

4. A Way Forward - Thank you to those who came out to last weekend's Town Hall meeting.

If you would like to contact our representatives to General Conference regarding the Way Forward process, you can find their information by clicking here.

5. Super Charge Conference - Our annual Charge Conference is coming up soon. We will gather with all of the other United Methodist churches in our district for the first ever Super Charge Conference. This will be a time of worship and reflection on missions and ministries this past year. We will also look to the future and the ways we can impact our communities. We will go over reports and have a few votes that will need to be taken. It is open for all people to attend and all church members can vote. It will be held on October 20th, at New Covenant UMC, 3470 Woodridge Dr., in The Villages, beginning from 9am - 12pm. We hope to see you there as we represent Community UMC!

6. Pumpkin Patch - Our annual Pumpkin Patch is right around the corner and there are many ways in which you can help support this mission and fundraising endeavor. We are looking for people to help unload the pumpkins THIS SATURDAY October 13th at 11am, be storytellers, sell pumpkins in the patch, and set up and take down the patch. While this pumpkin patch does help raise funds for our youth and children's ministry, it is also a fantastic way to meet our neighbors and welcome them to our campus. You never know what seed might be planted or what prayer might be answered through our patch this year. We want to encourage you to pray about how you might be involved in this wonderful ministry. Call the church office if you are able to participate or you can sign up after worship on Sunday! Hope to see you out there!

Have a great weekend and we will see you Sunday!
