Thursday Thoughts

1. Sunday Morning Worship - This week we are beginning a new preaching series called "Jargon Unchained." We're going to be taking some of the theological terms and church jargon and explain it all in a much easier to understand way. The first term is "Grace," and Pastor Daryl will be explaining that one based upon Ephesians 2:1-10.

Invite a friend and a neighbor and we hope to see you at 8am, 9:30am, or 11am! All are welcome, all are invited.

We will also be recognizing Pastor Charlotte's retirement in all three services this weekend and there will be a reception honoring her in Family Life after all of the services for the day are over.

2. New Thursday Worship Service

We are launching a new worship experience on Thursdays in the Family Life Center starting in September. The first one is tonight!  This Seven02 service (named after its start time!) will be contemporary in style and set up in the round. Click here to listen to Pastor Daryl and Worship Leader Joey Landstedt sharing about the vision for this service.

3. Wednesdays Began Again!!!! All of our normal Wednesday activities returned yesterday - Wonderful Wednesday, Wednesday Night Dinner and GROW Night classes. Last night we gathered together for GROW night in the sanctuary to hear from the different teachers about the classes being offered this semester and also heard some important mission trip updates from the youth and the choir about their trips this summer. It's not too late to join in as individual classes begin next week. Check the bulletin board outside the office or the insert from the bulletin for a list of classes!

4. CUMC Concert Series - The Music Ministry will host Mr. Justin Maxey on Sunday September 23rd at 6pm in the Sanctuary. This concert will feature a blend of secular, classical, sacred and modern works on the organ. Justin is a native of Winder, Georgia and currently serves as organist at Roswell Presbyterian Church north of Atlanta. A love offering will be taken.

5. We Need You! - We are in need of a few people to help on Sunday mornings.
  • The first way is with the tech aspects of worship at our 8am and 11am worship services. We will provide all the training, but we need people to help with the PowerPoint and soundboard operations during the services. These positions are very important to the flow and experience of worship and truly add to our time together.
  • The other area we are looking for people is to drive a golf cart helping transport people to and from our parking lots. This is often our first point of contact and is extremely important in helping people feel welcome.
If you are interested, please contact the church office by clicking here or calling us at (352) 787-1829. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
