Midweek Moment

This Saturday we will open up our campus for several thousand people to come and experience fun, food, and great memories. We are inviting you to take a few moments over the next several days to lift this event up in prayer. This is always a time when God moves in incredible ways. This year we are welcoming back the prayer lounge and haircuts for children 14 and under, in addition to all of the other amazing things we will offer. Thank you all for your donations up to this point and for your support as we get ready for this year's Winterfest!

Thursday Thoughts

1. Sunday Morning Worship - This week we are beginning a new preaching series entitled "Half -Truths." Based on a book by Adam Hamilton, this series will focus on some of the most common phrases people attribute to the Bible and Christian faith, but that aren't actually in Scripture. Pastor Daryl will be preaching on the topic of "Everything Happens for a Reason" from Deuteronomy 30:19-20.

Invite a friend and a neighbor and we hope to see you at 8am, 9:30am, or 11am!

2. Church Directory Pictures!!!! - Yes we are working on a new church directory! We started last night with the first photo session in the Family Life Center. Other upcoming sessions include Wednesday January 24th from 3-6pm in the Family Life Center and Sundays January 28, February 11 and February 18th after all three services. No appointment necessary. Stop by and make sure you are part of the new directory. This will be an online version, able to be accessed from computers or from smart phones via a free app. We will also be putting together some printed versions.

3. GROW Night - GROW Night and Wednesday Night dinners resumed two weeks ago and it's not too late to join in on the fun. We have new class choices and new subjects aimed at helping you grow deeper in your faith. Class listings can be found on our blog, church Facebook page, in the church office or at the Welcome Desk in the Narthex. These classes are great ways to explore your faith, meet new people, and feel the power of the Holy Spirit in your life. We hope you will make plans to join us each week as we GROW together!

4. Love Run - On Saturday February 10th will be the annual LOVE Run 5k in the City of Fruitland Park to kickoff the LOVE week celebration. You can register by clicking here.  Registration cost is $20 between now and January 29th; then the cost goes up to $30. Proceeds from the race benefit our Community United Methodist Food Pantry as well as the City of Fruitland Park's recreation department.

5. Be In the Know! - One of the great things about Community is all the options and choices you have to help make disciples and build the Kingdom. And we want you to know about as many of them as possible. The best way to do that is for you to sign up for any of the various ways we have set up to communicate with you. Here is a list of them and how you can sign up or follow them:

Midweek Moment

Starting this Sunday, we will be embarking on a new preaching series as a congregation called "Half-Truths." This particular series is based on a book by the Rev. Adam Hamilton from the Church of the Resurrection out in Kansas.

"Half-Truths" addresses several of those phrases that are quite often attributed to the Christian faith as coming from the Bible, but are not really found in Scripture. You've heard them before, you might have even said them. Things like "Everything happens for a reason," "God won't give you more than you can handle," "Love the Sinner, Hate the Sin" and "God Said It, I Believe It, That Settles It."

This series will help explore those phrases and what the Bible really has to say on those subjects. I think you will find it to be very interesting. And this is a great series to invite your friends and neighbors and co-workers to attend. Make sure to invite them to join you this week at 8am or 11am in the sanctuary or at 9Thirty in the Family Life Center.

Blessings

Upcoming Opportunity - Transitions

Greetings Friends!

This morning I had the opportunity to sit with Gretchen and Judy and listen to them talk about the Transitions Group that will be starting up again, here at Community. This group is designed for ladies to come and share about the transitions in their life, across the spectrum. It is a safe and loving space to share what you are feeling and be loved through it. We did a Facebook Live video to share about this group and I invite you to head on over to our church Facebook Page to give it a listen, you can find it by clicking here, you can also watch it below. I want to invite you to share this with anyone you know of that would benefit from being a part of this dynamic group of folks.

See you soon!

Midweek Moment

Thankful for this extremely generous congregation that we have the privilege of serving! Your generosity was so present in our Christmas Eve offerings for Water is Basic - $8,500 raised in a single night for providing clean drinking water for people in the South Sudan. What an amazing achievement!!!!!

And if that weren't enough, when Pastor Loida announce on Sunday December 28th the amount raised, she joked around in the first two services about asking her husband if they could write a personal check to round it off to $10,000. And then someone after the 9Thirty service approached Loida and handed her a check for $1,500!!!! We're amazed and overwhelmed!!

We've sent off our check to Water is Basic and we will update you when we hear what communities have been touched by your generosity.

Blessings
