Thursday Thoughts

1. Sunday Morning Worship - This week we have a special treat for you this week, as our youth will be leading and preaching in all three services! As a disciple of Christ we are called to pour ourselves into others and share with them our learnings and experiences and invest in them. One of the greatest investments we make here at Community United Methodist is in our youth and children. This Sunday you get to see some of the fruits of that investment as the youth lead us in worship. They will take part in every aspect of worship, at all three services, including four of them sharing the sermon time. We hope you will invite a friend and make plans to join us each week, at 8am, 9:30am, or 11am for worship!

2. Sunday Morning Parking - Over the last several years we have been so blessed to be able to use the parking lot at Fruitland Park Elementary school on Sunday mornings for additional parking for our church family. With the construction on 466A/Miller Road, the County has gate access from this road into the school blocked off. We are still able to use the school parking lot, but during construction we will need to access the school parking lot from the entrance on Fountain Street. We wanted you to be aware of the change for your parking needs on Sunday mornings. Also, the offsite lot at the corner of Rose Avenue and Catawba Street is open and available with golf carts running back and forth.

3. The Pumpkins are Here! - Our annual Pumpkin Patch has begun and there are many ways in which you can help support this mission and fundraising endeavor. We are looking for people to be storytellers, sell pumpkins in the patch, and help take down the patch when it is over. While this pumpkin patch does help raise funds for our youth and children's ministry, it is also a fantastic way to meet our neighbors and welcome them to our campus. You never know what seed might be planted or what prayer might be answered through our patch this year. We want to encourage you to pray about how you might be involved and also to read through Faye's article on page 8 in the October Newsletter by clicking here, for more details about the many ways you can plug in to this opportunity and Trunk N Treat! Hope to see you out there!

4. Charge Conference - Our annual Charge Conference is coming up soon. We will gather with the other United Methodist churches in the area for a time of worship and reflection on missions and ministries this past year. We will also look to the future and the ways we can impact our communities. We will go over reports and have a few votes that will need to be taken. It is open for all people to attend and all members can vote. It will be held on October 23rd, at New Covenant UMC, 3470 Woodridge Dr., in The Villages, beginning at 3pm. We hope to see you there as we represent Community UMC!

5. Christmas Child Shoeboxes - We are so excited at the response two weeks ago to you all taking boxes to fill for Operation Christmas Child. Now is the time for you to return those boxes to the church so we can get them over to the drop off point. If you would please bring those boxes back to worship this Sunday, October 23rd, it would be greatly appreciated. That will give us the necessary time to make sure our boxes get passed along in a timely manner. Thank you so much for your enthusiasm and participation in this ministry!

6. New Member Class - Our next New Member Class is coming up Sunday, November 13th, beginning at 12:30pm, in the Fellowship Hall. We will serve lunch and childcare will be provided. If you have been attending CUMC for a while and want to take the step of commitment in joining the church, we welcome and invite you to attend. Please contact the church office at 787-1829 or email the office by clicking here to RSVP. We hope to see you there!

Have a great weekend and we will see you Sunday!
